They used to say, here in Montauk, that you could lie down in the middle of the street the day after Labor Day and not get run over – at least not for a few hours. And indeed, back then everything would became immediately quiet once our visitors and renters went back to school and work in early September. As you can see, this is no longer true. Life at the Beach has expanded to include what is probably the best season for the East End – Autumn.
Look around our villages and you will see galleries, restaurants, shops, museums and more still going strong, matching the warm days and cool nights with exhibitions, galas, and festivals that keep us coming back for more.
For four years now we have been publishing the Local Art Rag and in that time we have grown both in the scope of what we cover and in the number of artists, musicians, businesses and galleries we help to publicise – and we managed to maintain the same very low advertising and listing rates for most of that time. It seems though that our success has now outgrown our business model so next year will see an enhanced Local Art Rag – better looking in print and even more useful online.
The changes will begin at our website – www.localartrag.com - over the next few months, so you may find some of the links at the bottom temporarily disabled as we update older things and add in some new ideas, but of course the listings will remain accessible so you can always find or contact the artists, musicians, and or businesses you are looking for.
